The Plaschke family has been involved in the manufacture and sale of musical instruments for around 170 years. The founding father started his business in 1848 in Bolzano with the production of wood and brass instruments. His son Josef Plaschke moved to Merano in 1959 and opened the first music shop there, where, in addition to the sale and repair of musical instruments, he also started his own production of ocarina and later panpipes.
In cooperation with international musicians, the ocarinas and panpipes are now developed even more professionally and convince with their clear sound, good tuning and perfect workmanship.
The Plaschke pan pipes are of an exceptionally high quality and yet reasonably priced.
Fine craftmanship, prime quality natural raw materials, such as well - seasoned reed (similar to bamboo), and carefully selected timbers go into the creation of our Plaschke panpipes.
All classical models (Romanian form) are electronically tempered and subject to strict quality controls.
On request, we can also supply customized instruments, for example low-pitched or designed for left-handed people.
We only use natural oils and no varnish!
The second main instrument to be manufactured by ourselfes is the ocarina!
Since 1963 the Plaschke Okarina is manufactored in South Tyrol out of clay (terracotta) according to an old tradition.
Apart from harmonica, jew's harp and fife, the ocarina is a typical pocket instrument, suitable for beginners and professional musicians.
In co-operation with well-known ocarina players and based on over 50 years of experience in the construction of musical instruments, we succeeded in creating an ocarina for the highest musical demands, with an exact tune, clear and easy articulation.
The ocarinas are subjected to a strict final inspection to grant optimal quality.
Franz Kofler from Renon in South Tyrol was the first to popularize the ocarina in alpine folk music. With his contribution, the Plaschke Workshop improved the ocarina, which sees use in the folk music, world music and many other fields.
